Since its inception in 2007, the biennial Photoquai photography highlights the non-European photography and has a wide audience of artists whose work is unique in France, or some views in Europe and the United States.
These photographers offer a fresh look at the major geographical areas represented in the collections of the musée du quai Branly: Latin America, Oceania, Asia and South East Asia, India, Africa, former Soviet Union and Middle East.
For its 5th edition, Photoquai continues its fundamental mission: promote exchanges, crossings of views on the world and give to see the light of Elsewhere Elsewhere. The selection of 40 photographers from around the world reflects the diversity of ways of perceiving the non-European world today, from the inside, by artists who live there, far from the clichés that often conveys a certain tourist photography.
The first 4 editions discover 202 photographers from each time some thirty different countries.
